Graduate Chemistry Requirements
Graduation Requirements for the MA in Chemistry
A minimum total 30 semester hours of graduate credit is required. At least 21 semester hours must be in chemistry courses. . This coursework should include at least 6 hours, and no more than 9 hours, of chemistry research and at least 21-24 hours in courses intended principally for graduate students (numbered 500 or above). Courses in chemistry-related fields must be approved by the Director of Graduate Studies in Chemistry, Dr Natalie Arnett, when recommended by the student’s thesis advisor and required by research and/or specialized and approved areas of study.
An overall GPA of 3.0 must be maintained.
Teaching in Chemistry (CHEM 582) and serving as a teaching laboratory assistant is required in the first year and considered to be part of the training of Chemistry MA students. A total of four hours may be earned for Teaching in Chemistry.
